leading scorer and a super fan

Well hello, you!

So sorry for my lack of blogging this week.
And thank you so much for all of you who emailed, concerned about my absence.
Actually, I didn't any emails.
But, whatever.

Moving on.

Last night was our Winter Sports Banquet.
Nick received a nice recognition for his great contribution to the
team. He was the lead scorer for the JV team. He's cool.
Note that Nick is wearing his golf belt.
He was also texting his golf coach during the ceremony, setting
up a tee time for today.
He's die-hard, I tell ya.

The middle of the ceremony was dedicated to recognizing
a very special fan.
Or should I say, a Super Fan.

Brenden.

They made him a great collage poster.
He will be SO missed next year!

And this has prompted a slight interest in trying out
for yell-leading at his college of choice this spring.

That equals: FUN.
And it also equals: MORE $$$ for college!
But I think for him it only equals: Cheerleaders.

Whatever.

another basketball post

Are you as bored with my basketball posts as I am?
Good.
I'm glad I'm not alone.

Here ya go...one more time.

As tired as I am of our hectic schedule...
I really do LOVE watching Nick play.
I NEVER grow tired of that.

Lucy seems unaffected by the fact that our lives are spent
on hard bleachers.
(I seriously thought about bringing my crockpot with dinner in it last night)
This girl loves a good cheering section.

And there you have it.
One more dreadfully boring bball post for the books.

Perhaps something big and exciting will happen to us soon.
Like, win the lottery
(gotta play to win though...I'm not really into that),
or a major award of some sort
(no leg-lamps, please).

I hope your Wednesday (it is Wednesday, right?)
is filled with love, joy, peace, and a little less basketball.

2 more weeks

It's no exaggeration when I tell you that it took me no
less than 6.5 hours to post the pics to this post.
So please enjoy them to the fullest.

************

We have exactly two weeks of basketball left.
I think we're gonna make it.
I do.

And once it's over, and we no longer have the expense
of gas, admission, and concessions (which I've put a moratorium on),
we will save millions of dollars.

Just in time for golf season.

So here are a few pics from last night.
Remember,
enjoy them because they were painstakingly posted.
(Thanks to our super-sonic speed internet)

The girls had fun watching Nick play.
As they sometimes do.

Brenden had props for cheering.
Buckets.
Get it?
And as usual, he was teasing Lucy ruthlessly.

Su-weet!

Picked. Off.

THEN...
after the game, Nick had to rush outta there to go
to a school dance.
With a girl.
(Fingernails on a chalkboard to me, I tell you)
He was already running late so we had to run him over to
our friends Mike and Angela's house for a quick shower and change.

And here he is all cleaned up...with his BEST girl. And though you might think he is miserable, based on the look on his face,
anyone who knows Nick knows that that's just the way he is.
He is an extreme cut-up.
Funny, funny, funny as can be.
But for pics,
he just rarely smiles,
thanks to a diving board accident back when he was about 8 that
knocked his front tooth clean-out.

Oh but we did replace his tooth.
Although I'm regretting that these days.
What with the girl and all.

When he came home from the dance,
he was feeling under the weather with a sore throat.
And didn't ever really dance.
Well, thank goodness for that.

I hope you all have a super duper week!

you are so busted, dude

Last night we had a basketball game
(unusual, I know)...

Macy and I went court-side to take some pics.
I casually looked back up in the
stands where my stuff was and to my surprise (not really),
I see Brenden rummaging through my purse, looking for money
for the concession stand.

Dude, you're so busted!
This would be my son who HAS A JOB
and is soon to be going off to college.
RED FLAG, RED FLAG.

And here's how Macy is feeling about basketball right now.

We are SO ready for spring!!

something new {not}

This is a boring post to most of you, I know.

I know!

But, this is life as I know it right now.
Basketball.
More and more and more basketball.

I saw a momentary glimmer of respite coming this weekend,
with zero games on the schedule.
But apparently our Athletic Director couldn't stand for that.
And scheduled last-minute games for
both Friday and Saturday.

Thank you for that.
(Said with a bitter and sarcastic tone)

So anyway,
last night we had a couple great games.

And here are the pics.

Don't you love Nick's,
"I'm a big bear so I'm going to block your shot" pose?

Air, baby, AIR.
And if you look just under the H and C on the wall to the left,
you'll see Lucy, Macy, my dear husband and my parents.
It's the only pic I got of them so enjoy it.

A three.
Another three.

A quick steal and down the court he went.

Alright that's all.
I'm so sorry.

If you're reading this then that means you indulged me,
and I greatly appreciate that.
You are the best.

Now leave me a nice comment, at least to let me know you
were here.
I do so love to hear from you.

Oh and nine inches of snow is on the way.
That pretty much guarantees some sort of fun blog post,
depending on who gets snowed in with us.

our winter entertainment {continued}

Basketball continues to be our winter-long entertainment.

Nick had a game last night.
And one tonight.
It never ends.

Oh well, it's fun!

Here are the girls.
They put on their serious supermodel faces for me.

Lucy was insistent that she go to the concession stand
all by herself to get her dad a bottle of water.

Seriously, Mom, I can do this without you.

But, turns out she did need me because the guys working the
stand didn't bother to look DOWN at their next patron in line.

However, this firecracker isn't easy to go unnoticed for long.
The transaction went smoothly.
I'm thinking I will give her my grocery list and see how she
does. Delegating. I'm learning all about delegating.

A few action pics for your pleasure.
Or should I say, for the grandparents' pleasure.

#14 rocks.

Have a super weekend!

big boys

The Eagles had a super sweet victory tonight.
Twice over.
JV kicked some batooty....as did Varsity.

The fans get really into it.
And as I told you before, Brenden is their ring-leader.

I positively love how he roots for his little bro.
Golly, I love my biggest boy.

Oh, but sometimes he's distracted.

Gee, I wonder why?

Here's my 3-pointer extraordinaire.

And a quick steal and he's down the court in a flash.
Golly I love my next-biggest boy.

I can't stand the fact that high school is almost over for these
two great young men.
They are priceless treasures to me.

They make me laugh till I might pee my pants.
I think I'm going to consider home-college-schooling them.
I'm doubtful that they will go for that.

Now if you'll excuse me as I go have a big ol' ugly cry.
Booohooohooo.

fan of the year

Wow, I think I made my millionth visit to Wal Mart today.
Do I get a prize of some sort?
I really do deserve a prize.

But, I think that wraps up my shopping.
Well, actually I need to sneak a few more special items.
*Pink cowgirl hat*

No, it's not for me.
Though I'm desperate for one, if you must know.
But who isn't?

Anyway,
it's going to be a completely crazy week.
Lots to tell you about after the fact
(including Christmas, of course).

Please do forgive me if I'm absent for a short bit.

But I'll leave you with a few basketball pics.
But not of our player.
Our fans.

I wish I could convey to you the amount of enthusiastic energy
Brenden puts into his cheering efforts.

Oh.my.word.

If you are reading this and have witnessed (or fallen victim to)
his enormous school spirit,
you know that I'm not exaggerating one single bit.

This child can whistle so loud that you want to smack him.
And he somehow manages to clap almost as loud.
I can't understand how someone can
clap so loud.
It's completely over the top.

But I'll just stop right there because words simply can't express nor
can pictures possibly convey
the obnoxiousness of this fan that I'm SO thankful is on our side.

He looks innocent enough.
Not so.

He leads the pack.
And trust me, you don't want to be anywhere near him
during an intense game.

And then there's Lucy.
Here she is cheering along with the cheerleaders.
She LOVES these girls!
I really need to break out her uniform to see if it still fits this year.

OK, I gotta go.

drivers ed

I have 3 minutes to post this.
I am on my way out the door to take Nick to driver's ed.
Mercy, I now have TWO teen drivers.
*And the third one could technically drive too. But, ummmm, no.*

The games were super great last night!!
We won, we won!

A lady behind us whipped out some bubbles during the final game
to entertain Lucy.

Uhhh, hello? Why the heck, nice lady, did you show up
at the LAST game of the season for this??

Lucy LOVED it!

UGH. BLUR.
Well, it was a great shot but dang it, I had my camera
on the wrong setting. Again.
We are getting our puppy today!
(Thanks for remembering, Julie!)
I'll post more later!

Gotta go!

rejoicing

The basketball fans still look perky
(well, most of them),

even as the season comes to an end.

*Rejoicing*

Tonight is the last (regular season) basketball game.
*tournament next week*

*Rejoicing*

And it's my last chance to get some good pics of
my star player.

Now that Nick is playing on the high school team,
I'm a little frustrated by how difficult it is
to capture those great action shots.

Good grief, those guys move fast.

I'm thinking about requesting that
they slow down just a bit.
And while I'm at it...perhaps I could suggest that
the other boys move out of the way
to make for a better photo-op.

I'm sure Nick would be OK with that.

Yeah, maybe not.

*~*~**~*~*

Golf meeting on Monday.

YAY!!

That can only mean that spring is almost here.

*Rejoicing*

baking mishaps

The girls and I made Valentine cookies tonight
and Lucy is the only one who let me take
pics of her.

Ahem.

Between you and me, the camera-shy thing is wearing thin
on me. For golly's sake the girl's gotta learn
that in a family....we take lots of pictures!

I'm not sure if there is an issue over her not wanting me
to post them on my blog or not....
if so, I guess it will come to me having to promise her that I won't post
them anymore.

I told her recently that she is going to have to let me
take some though because our post-placement
report is due soon and they require a certain amount of pics.

Anyway,
here is Lucy....
with her cookie that she spent, what seemed like hours,
frosting. Only to drop it on the floor (icing side down, of course),
she retrieved it, continued her task and then broke
it in half.
And then announced that that one was for Brenden.

Nice.

No baking mishaps will wipe the smile off this
sweetie girl!!

Here is Nick
(who never minds a good photo of him being shown to the world)
at his basketball game the other night.

Not much else to report to ya'll.

I'm not sure how I can be so crazy-busy every
second of the day,
but not having anything to say.

I must be coming down with something.

headbands and basketball

We live in the country. Ten miles south of Small Town, USA, to be exact.

But last Friday night we ventured out even farther, all in the name of high school basketball.

Much farther.

We drove about two hours into the heavily hidden sunset...to NOwhere, USA. Our GPS was beeping wildly, I think I even heard it mutter, 'don't say I didn't warn you...'

Yep.

But it was fun, that's for sure.

Here ya go....

Lucy just loves basketball games, can't you tell?

Brenden learned early on that's it's best to just do whatever Lucy says...even if it is in front of all his buddies. He is going to make a wonderful husband.

Of all Lucy's big sibs, this one indulges her the most. What a great sport, wouldn't you say?

This is a pair to be reckoned with, I'm tellin' ya.

I actually suspect that Macy may have enjoyed herself...I think she's finally resolved that multiple basketball games per week are just the norm in her new family!

Oh yeah, there was a game going on in the midst of all of this...see there behind Lucy? It was a nail-biter (what I saw of it).

basketball, cheerleaders, and nachos...

Can you possibly stand two basketball posts in a row? Oh I sure hope so...cause it may end up being that it's one bball post after another.

This is my life right now.

A groupie.

Look at my rock star! This amazing shot not only made it in...it was right at the buzzer. It was so cool.

Brenden and Lucy enjoying the game. However, they aren't very friendly to the paparazzi.

Looky who made herself an honorary member of the cheer squad...

Sorry no pics of my Macy-girl. She's a little camera shy most of the time and since she's the newbie around here, I gotta ease her into my photo shoots.

But I will tell you that for two games in a row, she's had nachos from the concession stand. Another little baby step that I count as huge progress.

Americano, baby!
