how to use soap

Last night as Lucy was brushing her teeth in my bathroom,
she noticed the bar of soap laying there.

"Mom, what is that?"

Me:
"Lucy...it's a bar of soap."

Lucy:
"Why is that there?"

Me:
"I ran out of liquid hand soap."

Lucy:
"Oh...so how do you use that soap?"

Oh my.

Quit looking at my dirty faucet.

No, seriously...stop it.

a lucy conversation...

Unlike yesterday,
today has been most non-productive.
Though it's only 2 PM and I have high hopes to
do something to justify my breathing
space in my corner of the world.

Right

Anyway,
last night Lucy and I went to a meeting at a new
Christian school (well, new to us) that has
a wonderful homeschool enrichment program that she will
be attending.

On our car ride there, our conversation went as such:

Lucy:
"Mom, I really want to see Angela's baby."
(Angela is my good friend who is pregnant)

Me:
"Well, Lucy...once the baby is born we will go see it,
but right now it's still in Angela's tummy."

Lucy:
"Mom, how do babies get out?"

*Here we go again*

Me:
"Lucy, babies come out of a woman's v*gina."
(I have no qualms about saying it like it is)

Lucy:
"Oh my gosh. I am never having a baby."

Me:
"Yes you will."

Lucy:
"No I won't."

Me:
"Yes you will."

Lucy:
"Mom, I wish YOU had a baby in your tummy...
a really BIG baby."

Me:
"Thanks, Lucy."

Then on the way home from our meeting our conversation went
like this:

Lucy:
"Mom, I really want to drive a car...
but I do NOT want to go to kindergarten."

Me:
"Lucy, you are not driving a car and you ARE going to kindergarten."

The End.

For now...

getting you up-to-date...

Well, you are all just so darn sweet
with your comments and emails regarding my...
condition.

I can't even bring myself to say it.

It's weird.

But anyway,
your prayers have made all the difference
because I am feeling SO GOOD.
Pain-free, even!

Catching this thing early is key.
FYI.

******

So in just a little while,
Brenden and I are heading to H*meland S*curity
to get his fingerprints done.
We are just walking in since his official
appointment isn't until the end of April.
We can't wait that long!
PLEASE pray that we get in and out with no problems!

And I'll leave you with this conversation from this morning....

Nick,
"Mom, I really need your help with this English lesson."

Lucy,
"Nick...don't you speak English??"

little chinese girl

Last night Lucy wanted to wash her face
before going to bed, just like I do.

So as she was standing in front of the sink,
I took a hair clippy thing
and pulled all her hair up in a twirl and clipped it to the back of her head.

She looked at herself in the mirror and with a bit of shock on her face said,

"Oh...I look like a little Chinese girl."

Hahahaha.

Yes, it's the hair clip that did it, Lucy.

I tried to get a pic but red flags were waving
that a meltdown was brewing
when I brought my camera into
the bathroom.

Battle not picked.

they match

The other day on our way home from church
Lucy was giving us the run-down
on which of her friends were in her class.

She rattled off all the regulars...
Chlea, Mia, Taylor...and the list went on.

Then she said,
"Logan was there...but I'm not sure of the name
of the boy who matches him."

Me,
"Matches him??? You mean he has a twin?"

Lucy,
"Yes, his twin matches him.
But I don't know his name."

Oh my.

So funny.

nothing there except Jesus

First of all,

Happy Birthday, to me!

Shameless, I know.

Moving on.

I absolutely must tell you about two conversations with Lucy last night.

We had a rare night when the boys were gone and
the four of us left at home felt a bit
rebellious and sat at the kitchen bar and ate dinner
in front of the TV.

I know, I know.
Please don't tell Dr. Dobson, OK?

So we were watching All in the Family.
Gloria was having a baby.
Right there as we ate our supper,
she was giving birth.

Really nice.

Lucy said,
"What are they doing to her?"

In a very non-sugar coating response I said,
"She's having a baby."

Lucy,
"What?? How is she having a baby?"

Me,
"They are taking it out of her tummy"
(Very vague...in desperate hope that she wouldn't push further)

She pushed.
(punny)

"How are they getting it out of her tummy?"

Well, for heaven's sakes what have I done here?

"Lucy, it is coming out of...(me pointing to you-know-what)"

She put her hand over her mouth
and giggled profusely.

Girl, it isn't so funny when you're on that end of it, trust me.

THEN....

She insisted I come to her office for a doctor's appointment.

(Thankfully by this point she had forgotten about the
baby thing...or she simply thought there was
no way possible I could do such a thing.)

She gave me a thorough exam.

And as she listened to my heart very carefully,
she announced,

"There's nothing there except Jesus."

Love that!

Then she said,

"OK, you're done. Get up and go away."

Oh, that girl.

micro-manager, first place, and lively dinner conversation

I am crazily trying to get things done around
here before Macy and I leave for WA
on Thursday!

Why is it so much work preparing to leave three fellas and
a four-year old girl at home for a few days?

Oh wait.

Never mind.

So, Lucy will be assuming the role of micro-manager while I'm gone.
Which won't be much of a shift in positions, trust me.
All would agree that she's basically my mini-me.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*

So I'll give you a quick update as to what's happen'
here then I really gotta run...

My big boys took FIRST place in their tournament yesterday!!!!
The best part is,
it was a two-man scramble tourney and they chose
each other to play with.

And it paid off.

Golly, I'm crazy about these guys!!
Congratulations fellas!

And lastly,
here's a little Lucyism.

We were eating dinner together the other night
and Lucy piped up
(because she can't stand a lull in conversation...
or not being the CENTER of conversation),

"Nick, are you from China?"

And before Nick could even respond, Lucy said,

"OH WAIT! No, no...you aren't from China!
Only GIRLS are from China."

And then an argument broke out between the
family and Lucy trying to convince her that there are in fact
BOYS in China.

We lost the argument.

There's no convincing this girl of anything she's got
her mind set on.

Watch out world.
And future Lucy-husband.
Watch out.

a lucy funny

Last evening Lucy was sitting on the potty,
*since she's four, she really doesn't mind me telling you that*
when she was finished,
she yelled for Daddy to come wipe her.
Well,
I just automatically jumped up from
the couch and went to take care of her.

Upon my arrival she said,
"No, I want Daddy to wipe me!"

To which I said,
"Lucy, I can do it...Daddy is tired."

And she, in all seriousness, said,
"Why is Daddy so tired? Oh, I know...he's tired from sitting
in his big chair."

Bahahahaha.

lucyism

Not much to chat with you about today.

But I will share the song that has been on Lucy's top ten list recently,

"Row, row, row your boat....gently down the street."

I'll let you ponder that a while.
But I'm pretty sure there's a spiritual metaphor there!

What's that sound?
Oh, just my ores scraping the pavement of life.

"They will come with weeping;
they will pray as I bring them back.
I will lead them beside streams of water
on a level path where they will not stumble..."
Jeremiah 31:9

Now there's where peace resides...following the gracious path of our Savior.
Even when if feels bumpy.
He is faithful.
Always!

meatballs and facial waxing

Before getting to the nitty-gritty,
I gotta tell you that I decided to just wait on touching
up my roots until next week...or even the first of the
following week.
Gasp.
So, if you know me and will be seeing me soon,
I'll appreciate your eyes not glaring
at my situation on top of my head.
Thanks.

*************

Oh and I simply must tell you a Lucy-funny.

Our bathroom light fixture has 6 light bulbs,
just above our mirror.
Well, 3 (or maybe even 4) of the 6 were burnt out.
And had been for quite some time.
I didn't complain because, quite frankly,
the dimmer the lights got,
the younger I looked.

But K-man decided to put new bulbs in
AND
cleaned the fixture spotless.
You can only guess what that did to my
complexion.
Anyway, Lucy told me yesterday,

"Daddy put new meatballs in the lights!"

Cute!

************************

Ok, we've put this off long enough.

Hair.
Unwanted hair.
God's sense of humor, I reckon.
Thank ya.

So as a professional, in my opinion,
the best method of removal is waxing.
It's super fast, cheap (well, cheap for me!), and
lasts....kinda long (not so much for me).

Much like my hair coloring (that I normally keep up on),
I also keep up on my waxing.
Yes, I wax myself.

One of my darling sisters is a regular
of mine in my waxing "chair"....I can't tell
you which one because she, of all of them,
is most private.
One of my other sisters, who isn't so private...
got her NOSTRILS waxed (not by me),
among other painful areas.
Can you even??

Anyway,
my sweet sister whom I've waxed many areas
on...thought it was the most painful
thing she had ever experienced,
until she gave birth...
now she takes it in stride.
We laugh hysterically each and every time.
That's as far as I can go with that.
But believe me, there's a great story there.

So....I just waxed yesterday.
Eyebrows:
nicely arched brows is the perfect face lift
(Unfortunately, I've "lifted" as far as I can).
Lip:
Oh come on, let's call it what it is:
Mustache. You just gotta get rid of that thing.
Period.
Painful or not (it's not, really), its gotta go.
Chin:
Yeah, whatever. You know you're really
getting old when you find gray there.
Not that I have!
Ok, I have.

So there you go.
If you've never waxed before,
go to a mid-priced salon that you trust,
and get yourself waxed.

Slick as a whistle.

You'll enjoy it for weeks.
Or a week.

Then, repeat.

monday

Whewy....I've a busy, busy day today!!
I'll tell ya all about it later.

**********

Saturday K-man and my father-in-law worked
on our new homeschool room!
It's coming right along.

***************

I will end this oh-so-short post with a Lucyism.

A couple weeks ago we were at my parents' house and my
mom polished Lucy's nails.

On the way home Lucy said,

"Mama, look! Ninny painted my fingernails and
fingerTOES!"

Heeheehee.

nicknames and Lucyisms

*Lucyisms*

The other day I was telling my mom something cute
that Lucy said.
She totally cracked up then said,
"I don't recall reading that on your blog."

Apparently I'm supposed to report everything to you all!
Heehee.

So that really got me thinking that since I have yet to
start Lucy's scrapbook (guilt flooding down),
I guess I should try to record these cute things
somewhere!

Like the time my boys were itty bitty (maybe 3 & 5).
We were driving down the road...with the normal boy to
mom conversations (i.e., "Do frogs taste good? Why can't we
drive as fast as we want to and...do worms yawn?

Yeah, those kinds of conversations.
Then Brenden asked me something out of the blue,

"Mom, do I have a nick-name?"

"Hmmm," I thought, "well, I guess Bren would be your nickname."

Brenden,
"No. How about Jefferson?"

HUH?

Sure, Jefferson is a perfect nick name.
I can't imagine why I didn't think of that myself.

See, this kid has been getting to me from very early on.
Wait til I tell you one day about the time he tried
to tape the ceiling fan to his head so he could fly.

Anyway, back to Lucy.

We were sitting on the swing with my mom,
swaying in the cool summer breeze.
I asked Lucy,
"Are you my sweet girl?"

"No Mom, I'm Chinese!"

***********************

Another time on the swing set....
I had been trying to teach Lucy how to pump her
legs so she could swing all by herself.

After a couple of weeks...
she just about had it mastered.
She couldn't quite pronounce the word "pumping"...
and it came out more like...
"cooking"

???

And since I already told you she keeps all L's silent,
here was what she told me as she
so independently was going back and forth
on the swing...

"Look Mama, I'm cookin' my 'eggs!"

********************

Ok, that's all for now.
Funny, huh?

Oh, and look who has discovered lipstick.
