4 Glorious Months

I just can't believe that today marks four months since "gotcha day". This little Chinese wonder has taken our hearts and melted them completely. I will never be able to write, say or express in any way how very thankful I am for my sweet, sweet Lucy Joy. Though I know that God sees straight to my heart and knows exactly how I feel about this experience and oh how He must be so delighted.

When I ponder on that day four months ago, I just can't even imagine how scared Lucy must have been. My heart hurts even now for the pain she felt then....being pulled away from the only life she knew and handed over to this family without any warning. I'm so grateful that God was so faithful to heal her pain and now she is thriving beyond measure. In those early days I would hold her and wish so badly that she could understand my words that expressed to her...that we were her family. Never, ever to turn her over to anyone else. To love her at the deepest level. God quickly spoke to me during those times and told me that He could speak those words to her for me. Oh the comfort that brought me. So I told the Lord what I wanted her to know and I know for certain that He spoke them to her heart and that she completely understood.

So this day wasn't any different than any other...Lucy played with her buddy Micaiah while I led our women's Bible study, we took Nick to play golf, and now she's playing with her dolls. And I'm happy to report that today she changed what she is calling Nick...it's no longer Ye-day...now it's Yick. Too cute!!!

A Family Gathering

A Grumpy Lucy

Papa, Mimi, Lucy & Lori Kel & Lucy

We had a lovely gathering of almost all of my side of the family last night at my parents' house. Even my grandparents were there from Alabama. Lucy was a little overwhelmed at first but she eventually warmed up, though she is never her normal chatter-box around people like she is at home. I really wish everyone could take a turn being a fly on our walls because she says so much and is the funniest little thing!

Thanks for helping me with the captions Brittne!! I guess I did it right!?

A Little Braggin' and My Modern Day Heros of the Faith

I’ve always been a “list” person. There is such joy in crossing off the tasks posted on a piece of scratch paper. I’ve even been known to add things I’ve already done…just so I can again experience that exuberant feeling of a word with a line through it. But as my days have changed drastically with my little Lucy pulling on my apron strings (ok really? Who wears an apron these days) and recently deciding to home school Nick, it’s mighty hard to get much done around here. So anything crossed off is a reason for celebration. All that brings me to the need I feel to let you know that today I dusted, got laundry going, helped Nick with a science quiz, built a fabulous structure with Lucy out of her blocks AND got my floors mopped. News worthy information? No. But since this is my blog, I’m making it a day worth celebrating. And all this was accomplished before noon.

But, as I am patting myself on the back I am quickly reminded of what my friend Linn has most likely already done today. She has posted to her blog (maybe both of them, I don’t know…I’ve been too busy to check), schooled the kiddos, memorized the Constitution, knitted sweaters for her family, found 12 more orphans to adopt, and made her husband a chocolate cake with mousse layers, topped with ganache. So as you can see, I have nothing on her. Though I will say that she just emailed me and told me she’s still in her bath robe (slacker).

There is also my newest friend, Lynsay (whom I only know via blogland). She is currently in Beijing with her husband & two sweet little girls. They are doing a great work for the orphans in China. And since she is a friend of Linn’s she most likely is an overachiever as well and is probably a member of the Chinese Acrobatic group by now. Seriously, they have sacrificed so much to be where they are and their life is nothing short of an adventure that I’m sure we will read about someday in a great book.

So, there are two of my modern day “heros of the faith”. Check out their blogs. They are great gals who love the Lord & serve Him with eagerness.
**BTW, don't you just love me new blog make-over?? Thanks to Linn (of course, who else) who so graciously sent me the info (as she was trimming her Aspen trees) on how to spruce things up around here.

Good Morning!

Hi guys...It's Lucy again! I'm just sitting here eating eggs & noodles, watching Ni Hao, Kai-lan. My mama doesn't let me watch much TV but she does let me watch this show over & over...it's SO awesome!

We went out for Chinese food again last night. It was so yummy! I just can't seem to get the whole American food thing (well, except sweets....oh yeah, American sweets are a very good thing). So, I got to eat my very favorite, white rice made perfectly by a real Chinese person (not my mama, trying to do it the Chinese way!). I also had spring rolls...oooohhh yum. And a little of mama's hot & sour soup. mmmmm! Nothing is too spicy for me!

So, I'm just gonna be hangin' out at home today. Bee-day (Brenden) is home (only because mama & baba made him) and Ye-day (that's what I call Nick...no one knows why since it sounds nothing like Nick...I'm just messin' with 'em) is at a friend's house & I really hope he comes home soon cause I like everyone to be home together, just like mama does. She kinda grumbles about that actually, how my brothers are always on the go...she doesn't like that they are growing up. Heaven help her in a couple years when they are off to college. I really have a feeling that I will have at least one more sibling by then! Mama doesn't like the thought of an empty nest. That's good cause there's lots of orphans who need homes...believe me I should know. But right now, I'm kinda liken' being the only little one around. So, I'm just gonna soak up all this attention!

Bye for now!

Welcome!!

Hello everyone! Welcome to my brand-spankin' new, somewhat spiffy blog! I am so excited to be in the real bloggin' world. I'm a very creative person but SO NOT computer-savvy...so the fact that you are here reading this is nothing short of a miracle (btw, this is my 2nd attempt at this post...very typical of me, and there will most likely be a 3rd or even 4th attempt).

I really have nothing new to report...just that I'm here! Thanks for visiting my new, warm & cozy site.
