friday post {creative title, huh?}

Hello, friends.

I don't have a whole lot to blog about today.

EXCEPT that we got our NVC letter yesterday!
Woo!
In simple terms, that means we are another step WAY closer to
traveling. But we're still teetering on that fine line
of getting there and back in plenty of time for Brenden's graduation.
I mean, I definitely think we'll (and by we I mean my dear husband)
be back in time...it's just that it may be only a week before.
That's not much time.
I'd love for the boys to be home and "settled" just a tad longer than
that if possible.

Anyway, I'm praying for mid-April.
It's very doable.
ESPECIALLY since I know of a great big God who
is incredibly good with time lines.

And in other news:

Brenden turns 18 tomorrow.

Dang it.

We're having a roller skating party, at his request.
It will be a blast!
And all his friends will ooooh, and aaaah at my awesome skating skills.
I did grow up in the 70s, you know.

OH, and speaking of Brenden...
his place of employment,
Dairy Queen,
burned down.

Well, not down...but destroyed totally on the inside.
Apparently someone left the fudge-warmer
on overnight.

Let that be a lesson to us all:
Never leave your fudge-warmer on.

18 is such a tough age to accept as a mom. My son was in boot camp for his 18th birthday down in TX. I cried the whole day.

Your day sounds WAY better. :D

Except I can barely walk, so me roller skating would be the entertainment of the year. :P

We will be with you in praying for that BIG GOD of ours to fit the time frame just right. And to HIM be the glory!

I know I should laugh at a tragic thing like a fire...but s.t.i.f.l.i.n.g giggles at the fudge warmer thing.

I was just thinking yesterday how I used to stress over adoption timing--specifically timing of the trips. I was reflecting on how each time, everything worked out. And when we did miss a few birthdays and/or came home at times I would not have um...preferred...things still worked out. All will be well... :)

Have fun skating...and don't hurt yourself. :)

How bizarre, our DQ burned down when I was in high school too. Oh wait, that was Jack in the Box. Nevermind. (in my best Roseanne Roseannadanna voice, since I too grew up in the 70's)

Happy birthday Brenden! That party sounds like so much fun, though I'd probably fall and break my rear if I tried to skate, I wasn't all that good even back then ;)...

Sending good thoughts that all the travel dates work out the way you need them to.

(Psst... I just put up a giveaway for a $50 gift certificate - swing by my blog for a chance to win.)

Ok so you know the timing will be just fine--and if it ends up Kelly JUST gets home with a week to spare.....that will work too. You'll have to trust that it will even be better then having had more time cuz ya just never know what will happen in a few weeks ;)
Happy Birthday to your boy!! Bummer about DQ....I'll be sure to turn off my fudge-warmer each night before bed. Thanks for the tip.

Glad you were finally able to dig yourself out from under all that laundry!

Praying for good travel dates for daddy, and a super birthday for Brenden.

As for DQ - it is an evil place. Esp. the fudge warmer. :)

And where was Brenden at the time of the fudge-warmer incident? I hope that he has a solid alibi so that he can enjoy his birthday party.

Congrats on the next adoption step!

Thanks for the laugh Lori...you do have a way with words:0)

Happy Birthday Brendan!! I can't remember the last time I went skating, but I always enjoyed skating. Have fun on your big day!!

We received our TA one month after we got our NVC and we were on a plane to China two weeks later, so you'll be close to that mid April date. So excited for you all!!

You gotta change the title of your post! Fudge warmer....probably the sprinkle machine!

Yah be careful on the rollerskates. I was going to wow the boy w/ my skateboarding ability, but decided I better do it in private first...then changed my mind again...who'll call 911?

Umm...hold up a sec. OUR Dairy Queen is also out of commission for something similar....Ooooo something stinks in Suburbia.

But if there's ever a good way to go down...it should involve a fudge warmer.
