salad dressing

This was the scene in my kitchen as I was trying
to make dinner last night.

Sweet girl.

It's kinda hard to get upset at tripping
over every little thing in the way when
she's having such a great time!

I thought I would share one of my favorite
recipes that I concocted myself
(ok well, it's not all that unique).

One thing I've come to really NOT like
is store-bought salad dressing.

Especially vinaigrette.
They are loaded with salt, corn syrup
and who knows what else.

It just tastes yucky.

So now I ONLY make my own at home quick
as can be.

I usually make very small batches so it's fresh
each time we have a salad so here's my recipe:

1/3 cup combination of Balsamic vinegar/red wine vinegar
(I use mostly Balsamic)
1/3 cup olive oil or canola oil
a tad of honey
a tad of spicy mustard
(this is the emulsifier to keep oil & vinegar from separating as quickly)
pinch of salt
pinch of pepper
about a tsp. of Italian seasoning

Blend in small blender (if you have one) or you could
shake very well in a closed container.

K-man and I just love this dressing!
I hope you do too.

Add or omit the things you like to make it your own!

Why, thank you! I often just mix vinegar and olive oil together and add some salt. But that is starting to get really old, and I was back to store bought dressing. So happy for a new recipe to try, especially since I have been eating salad every day!

And I know how you feel about the kitchen stuff everywhere. My boys will get it in their minds to get all my pots and pans and things out to play whatever with. (Not usually kitchen.) And I am so happy that they are keeping themselves creatively busy, that I don't mind washing them all later. Well, I don't mind very much. ;)

Okay, someday I will cook- I'm feeling the pressure- like a lot of hungry mouths to feed and you keep blogging about food and recipes. I better start praying about it because it is going to take divine intervention!

I love Lucy on the floor- it looks like she is working on her intro to homeschool math!! You can tell she already has things categorized!! She is going to be a good student... unless of course she decides she doesn't want to do school... that day! We've had a few of those days at Ferndale Academy!

my boys did a lot of that, but the dishes were upside-down and were a drum set.
Not sure why the girls don't play like that, maybe because they think they need to be doing what I am doing.
