Blizzards and Dozens of Eggs

Oh my gosh. My baby boy...my firstborn...my little guy who used to sit and read books with a bucket on his head....has *sniff* a job *sniff, sniff* interview this afternoon. *boo hoo hoo* A.job.interview. I can't even imagine. It's at D*iry Queen. I just have terrifying visions flooding my brain...him sneezing in someone's ice cream, not washing his hands after going potty, licking his fingers when the ice cream drips...EATING ON THE JOB!!! Well, at least he will finally have an income AND learn on-the-job responsibility AND perhaps there's a huge discount for moms of employees!!! That's just what my backside needs....wholesale Blizz*rds.

Remember when we got a slew of baby chicks in the mail?? Oh you must take a peek at the pics...click HERE.

Well, those babies have grown up and are now layin' eggs at a hare's pace! We are getting a dozen a day now and Lucy couldn't be more thrilled. Every afternoon she and K-man go to the hen house to gather and she brings them in and proudly presents them to me like a pot of gold.

So does that mean you are invited us all over for omelets? I'm a city girl. I've never even had a fresh egg. :(

You crack me up, wholesale blizzards! Too funny. And the whole chicken and eggs thing is a bit out of my "comfort" zone.

OK, so you totally just helped me with my diet and not wanting to spend money eating out. The worst thing is that I'm sure that stuff happens all the time. Oh, the thought of someone going to the bathroom, not washing hands and then holding your ice cream cone. I think I could go puke now.

I want chickens!!!

Getting that many eggs, you can have a little side business. My mom used to keep a liilte dorm size frig on the porch & a coffee can...honor system.....neighbors got eggs & put money in the can, which basically paid for feed.

Nothing better than fresh eggs.

Once it gets real HOT (we are in FL), the chickens really slow down on their laying until it cools off again.

That is so cool! I want chickens now!

And "good luck" to your boy on getting that job! Everyone needs a few more blizzards in their life!

My first real job was @ a frozen yogurt shop. One of my finer moments that first week was making a banana split for a table of women who did nothing but laugh after they were served. When they left they graciously informed me that that was the best non-banana banana split they'd ever had. Yes, I forgot the most important ingredient. There went my "employee of the month" aspirations right out the door...

Isn't it the neatest thing, getting baby chicks in the mail? What breed of hens do you have that are laying that well? We have lazy chickens. We have about 20 and get 8 eggs a day! Maybe too many of them crow???
First jobs are harder on mom than the kid. Do you wake him so he's in on time? Do you make sure he checked his schedule so the BBgame doesn't interfer? Or do you let them sink or swim? Fun mom stuff.

lol, congrats to Brenden! Yay. And thank you for your sweet comment on my blog! And you don't have to stand by and let just God and I change things. You can come too! We can have a big party! Yay!

My youngest son worked at D*iry Queen during summers and over Christmas break when he was in college! They were always glad to have him back but alas....no special deals for family members. :(

Sounds like we have alot in common. We also have plenty of fresh eggs. It all started with 6 cute little baby chicks that my daughter wanted to bring home. They grew quickly and now we enjoy plenty of fresh eggs. I can't think of a better treat than a blizzard so sounds like a good job to me!
