hedge apples {galore!}

Do you have hedge apples in your nook of the world?

Holy smokes, we do.
An abundance of them...and every fall, here's what we do:

MAKE THE KIDS PICK THEM ALL UP!!
(Sorry for yelling.)

This is only a portion of them!
Blah!

They really have zero purpose on this earth,
except to plant other hedge trees.
(Spare me the old wives' tales!)
Which I am so not interested in since hedge trees are basically weeds.
But I'm thankful for them anyway,
the trees, not the seeds.
Oh heck, I'm thankful for them, too.
Why not.

What was I talking about?
And what's my point?

I'm not sure.

But I needed something to blog about.

So there ya go.

Enjoy what's left of your Sunday.
And have a blessed week.

And don't forget to BE a blessing.

Over and out.

We call those Osage Oranges. I could tell you how they repel spiders but they don't. They rot and attract fruit flys.

There are a whole lotta crafties using hedge apples on Pinterest. I'm thinking you have a gold mine on your hands!

We use them to place around our house. They keep mice away. We've done this for two years and they work great.

Sorry, Anonymous...the whole mouse thing has never worked for us. That's one of those old wives' tales I was referring to. But if it works for you, go for it!

It could also be the balls of cotton with peppermint oil that are attached to toothpicks and stabbed in the hedgeapples. We had mice problems and we found everything we could on the subject and tried them all. Except for the bobcat urine crystals. We figured our 2 Great Pyrenees wouldn't like that much. And last time I forgot to sign my name.
