homemade hamburger helper

I know you've been waiting
in eager expectation for my
homemade hamburger helper recipe.

Wait no more, my ground beefy friends!

Here it is.

Chili Cheese Hamburger Helper:
1 pound ground beef
1 cup hot water
2 cups milk
1 1/2 cup elbow macaroni
1 Tbl. corn starch
1 Tbl. chili powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp paprika
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Brown ground beef, drain.
Add hot water, milk, pasta & spices.

Bring to a boil for 12 minutes, until pasta is tender.
Stir in cheese.

Then serve it up!!

It's so easy and delicious.
Absolutely NO reason to spend hard earned
dollars on a mix, my friends.

Here's my partial pictorial:

Blend spices.

Measure your milk, 2% or whole, please.

Pour in the hot water.

So far, so good.
Easy.

Pour in the milk.

Add your gourmet pasta.

Throw in your spices.
Boil for 12 minutes.

In the meantime,
shred up your cheese.

Then put cheese in your yummy mixture.

Then once it's all blended,
take a pic.
Because apparently I lost my camera
at this point,
cause I failed to take a photo of the
completed dish.
(Actually, I got distracted taking pics of Brenden
as he made an impromptu science
experiment for the kids out of my corn starch.)

Three-ring circus, I tell ya.

Anyway, you get the idea!

It's a really yummy and quick dinner.

I got the recipe from THIS site...
but when I tried to find the exact link, I couldn't find it.
Sorry!

But the author's idea is to pre-measure
the spices and pasta and store in a zip-lock bag
 for future use...that way, you
have it all ready to go,
making it all that much easier to
throw together on a busy night.

Oh and I always have to double the recipe.
Of course.
Cause it's soooo good!

That's my contribution to society
for this Sunday afternoon.

ENJOY!

I just made this for dinner. I'm waiting for the hubs to come home so we can test it out:) I remember making Hamburger Helper when I was first married. It's like a stroll down memory lane. Thanks!
