a pitiful sight

A few weeks ago Isaiah lost his coat.
We think we left it at church...but we're really not sure.
And it hasn't shown up in the lost and found...
so, I am not exactly certain what the heck happened to it.

But it's been so unseasonably warm around these parts
that he has been able to get by just fine with a hoodie.

But today we are heading out to run errands all day,
while Lucy is at her homeschool enrichment class.

But it just so happens that it's WAY cold out.
And windy.
And WAY cold.
It was over 60 degrees yesterday, of course.
But today, we've plummeted to unreasonable coldness.
Well, it's like it usually is here in January...it's just that I've grown
quite accustomed to this new tropical midwest weather.

Anyway,
my point here is,
I reckon I need to just bite the bullet and go buy him a new
coat, but I already have the appearances of it all dancing
through my head.

So,
here's the scenario as it will be seen by outsiders:

Elderly white woman takes little Chinese boy shopping
in the frigid cold.
Little Chinese boy has no coat, and a black eye.
(See the post below)
Also, his pants are about two inches too short.
And his shirt sleeves are too short too.
And he has a black eye.

It's going to be a pitiful sight.

Wish me luck as I attempt to explain to strangers
our situation throughout the entire day.

I know someone should be able to come up with a fun response for you to use on gawkers! :)

Oh, and please do share a picture so the rest of us moms know we're not alone! :)

Oh yea, we really need pictures! Maybe of the priceless looks you get too!
Audrey has been wearing capris to school this winter...It has been exceptionally warm here too.... The girl has no butt so in order to keep them on they are rather short. I keep thinking I'm going to add a bit of ribbon or something to the bottom but I figure by the time that happens it will be time for capris again anyway!
Look on the bright side! Winter coats are probably on sale by now!! Sheri

What is funny is when I worked retail in children's department store. I would give discounts if children were in clothing that was to short for them. My son is growing so fast he is in a couple of short pants right now :)

Elderly white woman---PLEASE! You look super cool and young. Would the clothes be short like my boys---cause their tiny waist is a size 3/4, but their height is a 6?
