i'm hiring a maid

I've concluded that it makes perfect sense for me
to hire a maid.

Here me out.

I'd be boosting the economy by adding a job for someone.
Plus, I'd be helping out another family.

It would free me up to do more things.
Like, get Lucy dressed before noon.

And adopt more children.

It would make me the perky-happy wife my husband deserves.
All the time.
In theory, anyway.

I could climb into a made bed
every.single.night.

Ignored toilets...a thing of the past.

And the list goes on.

So as you can see,
it works.
It just does.

And now the mission begins to find a fat, ugly, old,
highly efficient, incredibly kind, and talented
woman to lend a hand around here.

And if she has a sister, I'll send her your way.

In the mean time,
I will try to figure out how to pay for this.

Where there's a will....

I am trying to figure out the same thing. My passion is in helping families get kiddos home not in cleaning my house. I had a friend tell me that God gave some people the gift of cleaning and by hiring one of those people you are helping them use their gift.

I for one DID NOT GET THE GIFT OF CLEANING!

The gift of cleaning...that's a new one. :) Hee! Lori, when you find the fat, ugly lady who loves to clean--and she has an identical twin--please send her here!

I'm glad to know there are other people who struggle to get their kids dressed before noon. :)

I completely agree with you....except....I have actually had a maid a few times in my life (Don't judge people, you would understand if you knew why) and I can tell you that in my experience it took more time for me to clean my house PRIOR to her coming, and a lot more time for me to get her to do things they way I wanted them, than it was actually worth. We are now maidless again, and for the moment, I'm pretty ok with that!

one of my adopted daughters has the gift of cleaning. one time, a couple of months ago i was cleaning my bathroom and she came to me and said, "mom, what can i do" to which i responded, "do you want to help me clean?" and she said "oh mom, i am so happy i so much wanted to clean!" and truth be told she is a tireless cleaner and she appears to love doing it! all the kids are supposed to chip in and help, but she's the only one who really loves it. :)

I once told my husband I needed a wife, which you can be sure got me a strange look. I said, "You know, to cook, clean, do laundry, etc."

Ok... while you are hiring, find one for me too... I keep telling my husband the best gift he could give me for Christmas is a house cleaner:) He says if we want to bring another little one home, I better clean myself and save the money... oh well... I'll clean and dream of having a maid:)

Oh yes...I made that same decision long ago as well. For some reason, there still is not a maid around here. What is wrong with this picture??

Lyndsay is right. I have/had a cleaning lady every other week for years. My kids always knew when she was coming because I was tearing through the house cleaning up for her. Still worth it, though.

Just came across your blog and noticed we have similar passions! Jesus, homeschooling, adoption (we also have two sons by birth, two daughters from China and we're working on a domestic adoption right now!), Beth Moore studies and probably more! Don't ya love sisters in Christ?! Praying God's hand and provision is on your current adoption process.

Blessings,
Lisa
