the debut of nick's crazy golf pants

Ok.

Are you ready for the debut of Nick's golf pants?

*Am I making way too big a deal of this?*
Perhaps so.

But dog-gone it,
I'm pretty stinkin' proud of myself!
Though honestly,
I take very little credit because I literally prayed
my way through it.
*I had visions of finding them wadded up in
a corner somewhere, never having been worn*

But with God's guidance and a,
wonderful pattern,
I did it!

I had never used a Kwik Sew pattern before
(probably because I have been lured
too many times to the incredibly frustrating
but CHEAP McCalls patterns...but never again will
the $.99 price on those stupid things sway me).

You definitely get what you pay for.

This pattern was very, very good
and though it's not for a beginner,
I would highly recommend it to anyone with a little
experience under her belt!

Kwik Sew #3267

So here you go....

I didn't have my good camera with me but knew I had
to take advantage of Nick's moment of
graciousness in letting me
take this pic with my phone.

Now,
I feel the need to defend the pics just a bit.
The waste band looks a bit puckered but it's simply
a tad too big.
Easy to fix for the next pair.

Also,
his pocket wasn't fully pushed in so that's why you
see the lining a bit.

And they also look much better with his black golf
shoes instead of basketball shoes!

Ok,
there ya go!!

I think I made them for about $12...not bad compared
to $90+ golf pants found anywhere else!

Oh and his golf instructor LOVED them!!

Now I have a pair of turquoise ones to make for him!

Amazing job, Lori!! I'm anxious to see what Macy has picked out. I sewed quite a bit in 4-H years and years ago, and your projects are making me want to dust off my machine.

From a previous post, your puppy is so adorable and I loved the pictures of Lucy dressing him up! Also, I can't believe you are old enough to have a 17 year old!

Oh My! Lori, I completely underestimated you and your sewing ability! They look great! I am not even going to tell you what I imagined!! But I must apologize!

Great job!! I'll have to have my ultra conservative college golfer take a look at these pants!! His school color is purple! That could be fun! You may want to consider doin some business with his school!!

WOW!!! I am impressed. I so wish I had 1/2 of your talent. I having a sewing machine I asked for, and got, for Mother's Day last year. Sadly, it is still in the box. I haven't had the guts to take it out and try anything:-(

As a crafty person who is totally sewing challenged, I'm impressed BIG time. Those pants are awesome. I can't wait to see the next pair.

Lori, I've been following your blog for several months now, maybe even a year, but I don't think I've ever commented. Sorry. I have to say about the pants though that I am soooooo impressed! They look great! And Nick must have quite the personality to pull them off! I love it! You have a wonderful family and I love following your blog! - Charissa

wow! I am sew totally impressed!!! (heh heh yeah, I am punny today) AMAZING! I did the kwik sew slips pattern when my girls were toddlers -- I agree, amazing patterns and the slips were so cute and fairly easy even though the fabric was slippery. You inspire me. I havent sewed in months. Now I feel a slight itch... Maybe I will have pics to post soon!

You did a great job! The pockets...the zipper...the waistband. I am thoroughly impressed. You should reach back there and give your self a well deserved pat on the back!!!

I LOVE the color!! They are perfect for the sport! Yes, it is like watching paint dry, but one can look good doing it.

Glad you posted! I am inspired to pull out my machine and make some cutie pie outfits for my peanut, now. :)

Kev wants a light blue pair please!!! He think he was more impressed with your sewing skills than the pants themselves. He didn't believe me that you made them.

Great Job!!! I wish you lived closer. I need lessons. I love to sew but the only pants I tackle are flannel pj pants!!
I want to see Nick in some nice LOUD polka dots next!! It will give him an edge you know! He will just have to stand in the periphial line of vision of the guy teeing off and there you go!!

WOW! Those are great. I am a little surprosed at the bright pink color, but I love them. I can't wait to see the turquoise ones.

I LOVE the pant. My family is a golf family. THey're great! I used to make fun of my dad for wearing that color shirt on the golf course, but the pants take the cake. Maybe I'll have to make him a pair! jk.

Oh my gosh, Lori, they are great....the details are awesome! I mentioned to my mom that you were making them. She is a veteran seamstress (has even made a few wedding dresses) and she said that mens pants are one of the most difficult things she ever made. You are so talented!

Awesome work Lori! I think they are fabulous. Just tried sewing my first clothing this weekend - pillowcase dresses to take to an orphanage in Haiti soon. You can see the pics on my blog - sadly, they are nowhere near your skill level. You sincerely impress me lady!

Holly said...

Yea!!!! They look great! And that boy is very brave. : )

And I'm with the other Holly. Can't sew a lick. I wish we lived nearby and you could help me learn!

Holy Canoli, Lori! These look totally professional! Wish I had your skill! I DO sew, but my creations never look this good! ShaoXi wants me to make her "Stepping Up" (ceremony from
8th grade to HS) dress. I'm shaking in my boots. I really don't think she knows what she is asking! :)

Hugs...Nancy in CT
