a corner turned

Peace on Earth, Ya'll!

I can't really put into words what's changed...
but we have definitely
turned a corner with Macy recently.

Suddenly she seems much more comfortable with us
and her guard has been let down a bit.

She laughs so much!

She is understanding WAY more of our English,
which has made a huge difference.

She continues to work hard at school.
Golly,
when I mark a problem wrong that she did in Algebra
(she hardly gets any wrong),
she cringes and sighs...then fixes it right away.
Lack of perfection seems to bug her.
Silly girl!
We are ANYTHING but perfect around here!
*But from what I understand, her teachers in Ch*na were horribly strict*
Poo poo on them.

She's also speaking much more too,
which is so FUN!!
Her English is VERY good....even though,
that perfection thing seems to hold her back at times.

Of course,
we still have a long way to go as we build trust, attachment and love.
But I couldn't be more tickled with the progress thus far!

Oh, and the girl loves to bake!
And even though she's VERY particular about food...
and what's going to make her fat (oh, please),
she seems to not realize
the enormous amount of calories that are in
baked goods.

Or she doesn't care.

Just like her mother.

Oh yeah.

Here are some YUMMY scones that we made!
Almond chocolate chip
and
Almond raisin.

Dee-lish, I'm tellin' ya.

Hooray! I am so thrilled to hear this news!! She looks more relaxed in her picture. What a sweetheart!

Uh...our 'twin-ness' takes a sharp turn south when you mention your cooking and baking skills. Sigh... Cook or bake is a four-letter word to me.

I am so excited for you guys are Macy is beginning to mold more into your family. We actually just recently have turned that corner with our little guy in many ways. More trust, more willingness to step out of the shelter of complete safety in a sense. It has been such a blessing!

The scones are beautiful! I love baking- can you send me your recipe:)
Blessings,
Gayly

Oh Lori...I am just so happy for you! And happy for Macy that she is starting to feel like one of you. You know, I am not surprised that she is worried about getting fat. Oh my word, did you notice that all the hotel rooms had scales in them, there is exercise equipment in the parks, and everyone in China is a size 0? I was thinking that they all must think Americans are humongous!! Tell her to just keep eating those scones. She's got nothin' to worry about over here. : )
