Bliss

I know we are still very much in the
"honemoon" stage...and like
any new relationship, with time, things will change a bit and
there will be challenges...
but I gotta tell ya,
it's still going so great!!
I'm so very, very grateful.

The group pic that you see,
was taken right after our adoption was
finalized.
It was all I could not not to burse into tears
during that picture!
Shu Li had to agree to being adopted and
she readily did so.
Oh my heart!

The woman on the far left was so very gracious to
Shu Li.  She felt bad that we have
a male guide and took it upon herself to talk to
Shu Li about personal things and
to assure her that though many changes are coming,
she would be just fine.
It was so very, very sweet and we are so
grateful.

We are heading to Luoyang tomorrow for Shu Li
to say good bye to her friends (hopefully we will catch
them when they aren't at school).
Please pray because I know that it will be difficult
for her sweet heart.

Lori,

I'm so glad things are going well. Your guide was Jane. She is wonderful. She was a God send for our adoption of Lily 18 months ago in Anhui. I was so sick! Say hi to her from the Ronsman's.

Hugs,

The picture of you and Shu Li walking hand in hand (shot from behind) is truly remarkable...your stride and profile couldn't be more alike...I could almost see that red thread from here!

I read yesterday's post to my husband and I couldn't get through it without crying. I am so in awe of how great our God is! We have discussed adoption on a very surface level, but the whole thing is becoming very real to me. We have 2 children of our own (4 almost 5, and 16 months), and my husband Jason has always wanted 3 children. I'm 35 years old and think way past childbearing years, but I have to tell you, I am sooooo burdened and encouraged to adopt!!!!! I've been following your blog off of Michele McElroy Cordray's blog (hs friend) since about 6 or 7 months ago and reading this to my husband I think he's falling for the idea too. Well, I know this is a comments section, so I'll save the tears for another time, probably on my own blog, but I just wanted to encourage you as you are in China and to let you know that we (my daughter included) are following your journey to China for this second time (weren't around for Lucy Joy's adoption) and praying for your every day including the medical tests/exams to come and the visa interview. May God's arms continue to wrap around you and "Katie" :) Luvs and hugs!

my prayers will certainly be for Shu Li (you & K) as she says good-bye to her friends. that has got to be so tough, but just like our trust and surrender to Jesus look what we/she gets when we/she leaves the old life and says YES to the new life. (I hope that made sense).

Love following your journey!! Shu Li is precious. I love that she readily agreed to be adopted. I agree with Mary Kate, there is something "familiar" about the two of you together. God is so great!!!! I pray that the honeymoon stage never ends for you guys.

I'll be praying for your trip to the orphanage. Keep the pictures coming!
Are you still calling her Shu Li or are you transitioning to Katie yet?

My heart is so full I don't even know where to begin. Just SO happy for all of you!! My heart is about to burst! She looks so tiny in some of the pictures--but SO BRAVE! I can't imagine how brave you would have to be to give up everything at her age and fly into the arms of a new family, new culture, new food. Bless her little heart. Praying for you all!

Oh Lori, I can't stop weeping. Tears of absolute gratitude that the God of the Universe has orchestrated such a beautiful thing for your family. Such amazing love. To think that He knew about this before the foundation of the earth just blows me away. She is absolutely precious.
My heart aches when I think about how hard the goodbye's are going to be. Trusting with you, dear friend--that God would hold her heart in the palm of His hand.

REJOICING!

Oh, I linked to your blog--hope that's okay.

oh my goodness, I'm so happy right now! I'm so glad you have a daughter! You'll be such a good mama to her!!! I always thought you'd be a good mom for a girl! Not that you aren't for boys as well, but girls take more bravery sometimes in a way. haha
