we have a voice...let's use it

I don't have any new fun pics or stories for you today
so you're getting one of my rants....

“A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government.” Thomas Jefferson

A couple of years ago my doctor prescribed a med for me
that, when turned into our insurance company,
they refused to pay for.
I got on the phone and challenged them on this
and their answer was that they would approve me for
a very similar but different brand med.

The retail cost was HIGHER for the drug the insurance
company wanted for me to have.
?????
Well, that set me off and I gave them a (nice) earful.
FINALLY, they said if my doctor called them,
they would approve me for the drug my DOCTOR
felt was best for me.

Needless to say,
with that episode and other things we weren't happy about,
we switched insurance companies. Easy as that.
(We are self-employed and pay for our own coverage)

I can't tell you how VERY HAPPY we are with
our new coverage.
It's about the same cost and the coverage is way better
plus, the customer service is superb.

I will proudly tell you that we now have
Bl*e Cross/Blue Shield.

Anyway,
my point is....

We weren't happy with our coverage,
so we EASILY changed companies.

WE CHOSE what WE wanted.

And lest anyone think that we are rolling
in the money and can easily pay for our own
coverage let me assure you, this year has been
the WORST year for my husband's business
EVER.
Yet, he works very hard to make ends meet,
including paying for our own health insurance.

This is America...we can do that,

for now.

I know how tempting having the burden of
health care "lifted" by letting the government take care
of you (shudder) might be,
but if this happens.....
be prepared to lose your freedom
to choose anything when it comes
to medications, doctor visits, procedures...
whatever.
Those things will no longer be a phone call
away for us.
You will no longer be your own advocate.

"The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama's 'death panel' so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their 'level of productivity in society,' whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil."
Sarah Palin

Oh, and not to even think about some women will endure forced abortions on the Obama plan. And our tax dollars will be covering this. They already speak of wanting to limit births and do it by medical means. If this health care passes, we will not be the free country we are now. Although, our freedom has been going slowly the past years. Have you read the Obama Plan that is broken down and being sent around now? http://www.liberty.edu/media/9980/attachments/healthcare_overview_obama_072909.pdf

All of these incentives to buy new cars - cash for clunkers, these tax credits ($8000) for first time home buyers, etc., company bailouts .... who is going to pay for all this?

Indeed! We should be able to make our own choices. freedom is the foundation of this great nation, it should remain so!

Hi there, I traveled over here from, the Secret life of an American wife and mom, and wanted to say hello. It's nice to "meet" you.

Please stop by and "meet" me sometime. God Bless!

Obama health-care policy advisor Ezekiel Emanuel announced a new "Complete Lives System" for selecting which sections of the population should be killed, in his article "Principles for Allocation of Scarce Medical Interventions." Published Jan. 31, 2009 in the British medical journal Lancet, Emanuel's euthansia-selection article appeared 11 days after President Obama's inauguration.

Then on March 19, Emanuel was appointed to the Federal Coordinating Council on Comparative Effectiveness Research, to begin the design of a Federal system for withdrawing care from those chosen for death.Emanuel sums up who is to be treated, and who is to die:

"When implemented, the complete lives system produces a priority curve on which individuals aged between roughly 15 and 40 years get the most substantial chance, whereas the youngest and oldest people get chances that are attenuated." This may be justified by public opinion, since "broad consensus favours adolescents over very young infants, and young adults over very elderly people."-Obama health-care policy advisor Ezekiel Emanuel. (Brother of Rham Emanuel White House Chief of Staff to President Obama)

Thank you L for taking time to post this. I'm getting ready for a major post on this very topic as well. Above is a sneak peek into the dangerous, DANGEROUS "advisors" President Obama has chosen to spear head the Govt. (Socialized) Health Care reform. Please feel free to pass this information on wherever possible.

This is the biggest attempt of Govt. takeover since Social Security and the Emanuel brothers have their fingerprints all over this. Speak now.... and Speak LOUDLY ... or I shutter to think that my tax dollars will be used to fund abortions on demand, but won't be available (allowed) to help my 73 year old mother if she is in need of advanced medical care.

Oh my goodness....you are so right. I am sitting here watching all of this unfold and shaking in my boots, wondering why in the world the American public is by and large remaining silent about this. People actually think THIS IS A GOOD IDEA??? I feel like America is ceasing to be America.

Ha ha...I just read "Mom of Many's" little comment. She is hilarious! (But don't be surprised if I come join you over there.) ;)

Thank you for this Lori!! We need as many people as possible to speak out against Obama's proposed health care "reforms."

We are in a very similar circumstance since we buy our own health insurance, and we're also very happy with the Blue Cr*ss plan that we have for Lily. We tried to add her to our policy with another company and they wanted to do all these crazy tests, on our dime (including her cholesterol-- what?) but BC/BS sold us a policy with virtually no questions asked. Love em. And guess what-- it's affordable! Even for a one-income, paying for an adoption, small business having a slow year, family!
