pretty flour girl

Yesterday afternoon I made some French bread...
and wouldn't you know,
the minute I was finished, I turned my back
for half a flash
and Little Miss Lucy was in the thick
of the mess.

I'm not sure if it was the experienced mom in
me that didn't get rattled at
the extreme disaster that was happening
because she was just having so much
darn fun.

Or

the "new" (starting over) mom in me
that was just too stupid to know
that I would have such a huge mess
after all the fun was had.

Either way, the girl had.a.blast.
Take a look...

Notice the blue sticker still on my
cabinet...now coupled with flour.
Nice.

"Wow, that was fun!"

Let me tell you.

That was a bigger disaster to clean up
than the time (2 year old) Nick dumped a full 5 lb.
can of coffee on my kitchen floor,
making the perfect "dirt" pile for his dump trucks.

Precious, aren't they?

I think when we start over we don't see the messes much anymore. They grow up too fast to care about the small things.

You are a fun Mom!! I think I am going to need to lighten up a bit and let them play in the flour- so to speak!

I am gaining weight just reading your blog!!

So, to try to keep up with you we made brownies and banana bread today. Okay maybe I can't blame any weight gain on you!

Glad your back with your internet!!

Whenever I bake, I always give Marissa some flour and water for her to make tortillas afterall she is my Guatemalan love bug. It keeps her busy and let's her feel like she is baking too.

I agree that the second time around we don't sweat the small stuff as much.

I love it!

Katie "helps" me every time I bake too. She makes the biggest messes, but it warms my heart.

What sweet memories our girls will have when they are older. They can tell their daughters all about playing in the flour while grandma made bread. Precious!
