Our Snowy Goodness!

Well, my goodness.  Though we've escaped the clutches of wintery weather until February, it definitely hit us hard yesterday!  Wowie!  I reckon we got close to a foot of snow.  How fun, right?  Yessssss.

I ventured out this morning and it was so invigorating!  Five degrees will make you think funny that way.

But to back up just a bit, last night was such a wintery-cozy kind of deliciousness!  Figuratively and literally.

K-Man worked hard to keep our driveway cleared (and our neighbor's!)...only to wake up this morning to a few more inches covering all his hard work.  Dang it!

I did my part by making a big batch of chili.

And cinnamon rolls.  God bless America!!

Here's what today brought:  Loads of snow, blue skies, and bright sunshine.  And COLD!

I love every part of it!

My chickens don't mind the cold one single bit.  But the snow?  Um, yeah, they despise it!  So they'll just stay all cozy-like in their little red hen house, thank you very much.

One of my gals decided to find an extra safe spot way up on a rafter!  She's a smart one.

Only two of my kiddos decided to brave the cold and venture out with me....

Nick had all kinds of manly-fun by defying the piles and piles of snow with our ATV.  He tore right through it like it was butta, baby.

And Zeke...well my heavens, he is in heaven with this weather!

I love it.

I love it so much!

I love it soooooo very much!

Did I mention I love the snow?  Because I do!

And then there was the littlest man of the house...taking it all in.

Isaiah, did you hear the news that it snowed?  I love it!  Did you know that?

Then there was this, back inside the compound:

You know me, I try to keep up with the current theme!  Piles.

Send help immediately to dig me out of this place!!!

Enjoy your day, friends, whatever you are weathering!

another snow post {i just can't help it!!}

My apologies for more winter-ness.  But, golly...I am in awe of the beauty!!

Look at Zeke.
He  was ecstatic about the big snow-fall!
Really, he was.
I tried to capture him frolicking in it, but he refused to cooperate.

And here is my little set-up this morning as my electric skillet was hooked
up to the generator so I could fry us up some sausage and eggs.
I don't know why, but I had such fun!

And here is our trusty generator.  One of them, anyway.
GREAT investment!

Look how beautiful our basketball goal looks!

And here is our wood-burning stove/fireplace.
That gal kept our living room at a toast 77 degrees all day long!

Okay, really....how beautiful is this, right?!!

And my man on his tractor.
Mmmmm, good!

Beautiful trees, heavy with snow!

The road to our house....

AND from the other direction.

The pasture next to us.

Our driveway!

Our driveway with a kitty cat.

Picnic?

Branches,
GORGEOUS WITH SNOW!

And yet again,
my little red hen house.

Okay, that's all for now!
But if it snows again, I will be showing you more of the same!
Get ready!

There were approximately 16 exclamation points used in this fairly short blog post.
My apologies for that.
I just couldn't help it!!!
17, 18, and 19.

blizzard of 2013 [my summary]

Let me just say right upfront to my east coast friends,
I realize this is a piddly storm compared to what ya'll have dealt with this year!

Having said that,
Oh my GOLLY, did we ever get a ton of snow in a super short amount of time!

We started our blizzardy day with homeschool.
Because that's how I roll.
:)

And my little students were pretty much okay with that,
what with the promise of playing in the snow later and all.

Finally it was time!!

(Don't you love how you can see the straight edge from the garage door?)
(And how I stayed in the garage to take the pics?)

They had so much fun!!

K-Man had to go to work.
So Nick was left to do the manly work of snow-blowing.
Even though he is sick.
That's how the manly men in my house roll.

Then I finally worked up the courage to do my womanly work
and take care of my chickens.

Look at my little hen-house!
It's so darling in the snow, isn't it?

One brave little henny-hen came out to check out the conditions.
Here's what she said to me:
"Well, hello!  Are you here to take us into the people house?  Pretty please, yes, maybe?"

Turns out they were pleased as punch with me just giving them some lunch.

And that's my summary of the midwest blizzard of 2013.
