Mothers Day Pedi Party!

A very rare thing happened yesterday.
So rare that it hasn't happened in about ten years.

I left the compound and got a pedicure!!

My sisters and I surprised my mom with a group pedi and it was the funnest thing ever!

I hereby vow to get my tootsies done at least once every decade.

Happy Mothers Day to all my mother friends!!!

double check {crawling out of 1982}

I'm not sure if I told you this or not,
but, I got a Kindle Fire for Mother's Day.
I said, I got a Kindle Fire for Mother's Day!

Which, for many of you that may seem very boring and oh-so yesterday.
But for little ol' me, it's as if I've finally crawled out of 1982 and tapped into
current technology and I am not ever looking back.
Never looking back!

Look, I don't even own a smart phone.
This is huge for me.

Up until a few weeks ago I was only checking emails, Facebook, and other internet goings-on
on my ancient lap-top, in the convenience of my home.
Phhhht, at home.  How adorable is that?

But now, oh...it's all different now.

I can read books in bed at night under the covers without a flashlight.  Check.
I can get all kinds of apps.  Oh, the apps!  Check.
I can get online and just browse around, willy-nilly, away from home.  Check.

AND...

I can stick that bad-boy in my purse and have my electronic grocery list at my fingertips.
No kidding.

Check.

I was THE classiest gal at Walmart this afternoon.
Double check.

What I'm trying to tell you is,
this Kindle thing has changed my life and I feel like such a big and hip girl, finally.

Yay for me!

happy mother's day!

Having been a mom for 20+ years,
here's THE very best advice I can offer:

FULLY enjoy the silliness of your children....
And don't EVER forget to photograph it all.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to each of you crazy mamas!

mother's day 2012

I had the most lovely Mother's Day!

My dear husband smoked a pork roast for lunch.
I won't tell you what I smoked.
Just kidding!

We had a fabulous meal.
Then it was all cleaned up by everyone
except me.
I could get used to this.
Is anyone listening?

Then my kids gave me such delightful gifts!
They were SO eager to give what they made.
It was precious.

I posted this pic (below) mostly to show you
Brenden's new bedroom/pit.
(See over my shoulder to the right)
Because of the flooding in our basement,
this child is still without a place of his own.
So he has taken over our school room.
And he is quite content there.
No doors, no privacy, no room to walk around.
He thinks it's great.
I am losing my mind with all the "stuff" that is
spewing out and encroaching on my space.
But I love him.
Very much.
When does school start?

Macy worked super hard making this gorgeous necklace
for me!
She is shy and quiet...but her heart is huge.
Thank you for such a lovely gift!

Nick got me a gorgeous basket of flower from the nursery where he works.
He knew exactly the one he wanted...and made sure he got it.
And he gave me two big hugs.
A mother couldn't be more content!

Thank you to my crazy-circus family for such a beautiful day!
It was so relaxing and delightful.

I hope you all had a great day too!

mother's day {feelin' special!}

Honestly, I am looking around to see if
there's a candid camera somewhere.

Because here's what's happened so far
on Mother's Day for me:
(And this was all by 8 AM)

Sickly girly woke up crying at 5:30.
Mama tended to her and got her back to sleep.
Mama went back to sleep.
Briefly.

Mama got up to have quiet time with coffee mug
before little children got up.
Little children almost immediately started arriving to join her.
Little children started whining.
Mama got up to escape it all by
unloading the dishwasher.
Children continued to whine until Mama gave them donuts.
Mama finished unloading dishwasher and tidied up the kitchen.

What day is it again?

Just another early morning at my house.
Only today happens to be
Mother's Day.

I feel special already!

I better get a darling macaroni necklace
out of this today.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

my mother's day

I had a really great Mother's Day.
Husband and children waited on me all day, as they should have.
;)

I got a special gift from each of the kids that they
picked out on their very own.
And by the way, Lucy is a horrible secret keeper.
The door hadn't even shut behind her as
they returned home from shopping the other day and
she told me exactly what she bought me.

Note to self: It's only a matter of time before all family
secrets to will revealed. Prepare accordingly.

Brenden bought me some of my favorite lime cookies.
YUMMY.
Macy made me the most precious card.
(Extremely special, I'm tellin' ya)

Nick has a job working at a nursery and brought me home
the most amazing hanging flower basket.
I just love it!

But he also made me a special something
at the last minute.
He works in Children's Church on Sundays
and since all the little kids were making mugs for their moms,
he figured he would make one too.

Ahuh.

A picture is below.
And yes, you are reading correctly.
It says,

"I'm fond of you."

He thought that was so hilarious.

I'll remind you that he is 15.
I can't wait to hear his endearing wedding vows someday.

Not long after that special, tear-triggering gift,
we went to our favorite pizza place.
And Nick continued his gracious kindness by spitting
spit wads through his straw at me.

He is the middle child, in case you were unaware.

Explains a lot , I know.

And Brenden discovered on the way home that his sucker
fit nicely into his nostril.

Heart warming, aren't they?

If you don't have teenage boys,
I truly feel sorry for you.

Anyway,
we did manage to get them serious for half a second
and took a nice little picture.

They really are precious!!

Mother's Day.....

My sweet husband is usually the greatest gift-giver ever.

He just loves to plan and shop for things he can wow me with!
I know...
I am soooooo blessed!!!

But we have been super busy lately and K-man looked at me,
just before Mother's Day and said,
"I am clueless this time around as to what to get you!"

Shocked, I was.

But, knowing that feeling all too well (that's the way I feel
about what to buy him much to the time), I let him
off the hook & said,

"You know, there is a sewing box (I had to put it
in terms he would understand and called it
a tackle box....for sewing) that I really want....why
don't I just go buy it for myself and that
will be my Mom's Day present from you?"

Not that he really owed me a gift since I'm not his mom!

So yesterday I went and bought my tackle (sewing) box!

Isn't it cute?! It's much bigger than it appears and
now I have a place for all my little sewing
paraphernalia!

But backing up a bit......last Sunday after church was over
Lucy came up from Children's church and proudly
handed me her gift to me!

With great enthusiasm she said, "MOM!!! Look, it's ME!!"
Well, it sure is!! I will treasure it forever!!
