Spring-Cleaning with Mother Sue!

Remember my filthy ceiling fans?  And my mother-in-law, Sue, threatening promising to come over and help me spring clean?  Well, she did!  She came over yesterday and wiped away every ounce of dust and grime that the naked eye could see.

BEFORE:

Assessing the situation.
(There are two fans that are way up high!)

How we felt about the situation:

Sue just stood on a chair and praised the Lord.

And then I praised the Lord, too.

But we got those suckers clean.  Yes, we did.

Two hard-working gals.  Aren't we stunning?

And the REAL star!

I keep starring at my dust-free environment and I can't even tell you how happy it makes me!

Now, onto the toilets.  Praise the Lord.

Oh, and if you'd like to schedule your own flattering photo-shoot of you and your mother-in-law, with photographer Lucy, let me know!  She's great at capturing real-life moments.  Photo editing is extra, obviously.

Have a happy Wednesday, my dusty friends!

glamour with a leaf-blower

My husband cleaned out all the leaves and dirt from the
garage with his leaf-blower.

Then...

he had a "brilliant" idea.

He decided that it would also clean my wood floors quite nicely.

Yes, he did.

Dust was flying everywhere.
Well, not THAT much dust...I do clean house once in a while, you know.

But still.

Look at the little-boy grin on his face.
It's like he's struck gold.

And poor Macy.
Her daddy picks on her endlessly.
(She loves it!)
He gave her bangs a side-swoop and her papers a-flying
after he finished my floors.

This is my life.

It's every bit as glamorous as it looks.

leaving behind a neat and tidy house

Since it appears that our Travel Approval could
come...

any day now (??),

I've really been trying to prepare myself
for the fact that we could possibly
leave earlier than September.

It's not that I'm getting my hopes up...
it's more that I'm trying to get all my ducks in a row!
There is TONS to do before we leave.

Something that's really different this time
around is that instead of leaving my
house empty...it will be filled with my children
and my mom. Plus my in-laws are going
to come over a lot to fill in for my mom
when she needs (oh and she WILL need) to
get out of the house.

SO.....even though I always try to leave
my house clean when we leave to go
somewhere...it just rarely happens.
BUT,
I can't have my house messy for my mom
and Mom-in-law to see!!!
So on Saturday I cleaned out my refrigerator.
Ahhh. Nice, nice feeling having all those
science experiments tossed in the trash.
AND
I washed my windows and screens.
I never knew the world outside
was so clear and lovely.
AND
I mopped my floors.
Ok, that will definitely have to be done
again (and again) before we leave.

I'm feeling well on my way to having
a neat and tidy house.
And as long as the grandmas leave their
white gloves at home,
I'll be fine.

Dancin' With the Stars & Toilet Tuesday

I never would have guessed that a post on grammar would generate so much "talk." My hubby came home last night, sat down to read my blog and gave me a blank stare...."what in the world?" Suffice it to say that he didn't finish reading and made it clear that I had dropped the boring bomb on my blog for the day! Well, ok I admit it wasn't exactly earth-shattering and it sure doesn't have any eternal effects (a noun so it's effect, right?) but it was worth a quick brush up on the correct way to use our language, don't ya think? :)

Oh and now I am super paranoid as I'm typing this....and I'm sure you all are too so let's just not worry about it, okie dokie?

Last night the new season of D*ancing with the Stars started, which Brenden (and Nick too....sorta) has been waiting a long time for. But only because Shawn Johnson was on. Here is how that brief moment in our evening looked:

Yes, B is sitting in Lucy's little chair. And she made it known that she didn't like him doing so! But we are trying to teach her to share so we just let B stay there for the duration of the dance. I told B to smile for the camera and he told me that the look he was sporting better showed his intense interest. My kids are so weird.

And I have declared Tuesdays to be Toilet Tuesday because I have figured out that part of my problem with keeping up on housework & other things is that I have no routine. So, I'm scheduling my toilet cleaning. So, today it is. Please hold me accountable.
