"wood-fire" pizza [outside, baby!]

Here's a super fun and delicious spin on homemade pizza.

Grill it up, baby!

Make your favorite pizza dough early in the afternoon...
and let it rise for an hour...or two...or whatever.
It's soooo forgiving and doesn't mind being ignored,
and it's all too eager to get to work when you say the word.

Pizza dough would make a wonderful spouse, wouldn't it?

(For the record, I'll deny ever saying that.)

Anyway, throw together whatever toppings you want,
let your kids decorate their own pizzas (we did one pizza per two kids),
then throw those suckers on a hot stone on the grill!
CAUTION:  Do not let it get tooooo hot (around 400 degrees is good).
The stone can break (been there!) and the bottom of your crust will cook way faster
than the top.

What I'm saying is, be care out there.

Or you can even put it directly onto the grill grates...just don't overload with toppings
or it will be one hot mess.

If all goes as planned, you'll end up with a nice "wood-fire" pizza,
outside!
(Sans the wood, of course.)
(Unless you have a wood oven, which would pretty much make you Ms. Awesomesauce.)

Even in the dead of winter, or especially in the dead of winter,
this would be such a fun treat for the family, don't you think?

Everyone can get involved!

ENJOY-ENJOY!

We do ours on a real wood fire. Since we have no lid on our "grill" we flip the crust on to a pan...add the toppings and put it back on the fire to finish. An awesome pizza
