beaver, chuy, and beekeeping

Do you remember that episode of
Leave it to Beaver
where Beaver has that Spanish-speaking friend, Chuy?
And Beaver and Chuy have a play-date and neither
one of them can understand each other...
but they are having all kinds of fun, despite the language barrier
until Beaver decides to try out a Spanish phrase that he
thought he knew...
but in reality he said,
"You have a pig face."
And Chuy started crying and it was a big ol'
lost-in-translation mess?
Remember that?

Well,
something like that is going to happen here today.
Eli is going on his first "play-date" with a friend at school.
And Eli's English is still pretty awful.
Oh how I wish I could be a fly on the wall with my video camera.

It would fit nicely into an episode of my reality show in-the-making.
I'm not really making a reality show, though I really should.

And completely unrelated to that,
do any of you raise honeybees?

Let me know if you do.

That's my next big project.
I buy local raw honey and it seems ridiculous that
I don't just have my own.

But I have questions.
I hope you have answers.

My brother-in-law keeps bees!

I can hook you up with him!
He's here in Ohio but I'm sure he can answer your questions! He's a bit of a nerd about all sorts of farmy stuff! He's even raised chicks! He sold them or gave them to 4H kids thru the years.
I'll give him a heads up and email you his email address. Sheri

:::Gasping:::

I just started researching beekeeping!! I reserved a bunch of books at the library about bee keeping and want to pick the brain of the guy I usually buy honey from.

Are we REALLY sharing a brain??!!??!

Nah.

Maybe??!! :P lol

Let me know what you come up with!!

Don't know much about bees...but boys? they just grunt...don't need much talking.

Oh and bees sting if you step on em and you need flowers for them to eat and they swarm...and something is killing the honeybees on the east coast...we don't have many buzzing around our clover filled yard in the summer anymore.

Do you have this book: http://www.amazon.com/The-Backyard-Homestead-Produce-quarter/dp/1603421386/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1331691126&sr=8-15

I love it! There is some great advice on Homesteading and has a lot about beekeeping. I really wanted bee's last year. My husband had a good laugh thinking of me in my white suit out smoking bee's in the subdivision. LOL! Then he quickly reminded me that I am terribly allergic to bee stings and it probably would not be a good idea. So I will have to keep supporting my local farmer and getting my honey from him. Good luck!
