the value of a dollar to lucy {or lack thereof}

This morning Lucy and I were running some
errands while the big kids were all in their various activities.

It was 10:15 and Lucy announced to me that she was
soooo hungry and that she
wanted to go to McDonald's for something to eat.

I was more than a little perturbed because we had
just left the house where she had basically
refused to eat her breakfast.

So there I sat at a stop light explaining to Lucy
the value of a dollar.

Me:
"Lucy, you had the chance to eat breakfast at home
and you didn't. Why should mommy go
spend money on buying you breakfast when we
have food at home?"

Lucy:
"But Mom, they have eggs at McDonald's!"

Me:
"Yes, Lucy...I am aware of that, but we have FREE eggs at home!"

Lucy:
"But MOM...we can eat eggs at McDonald's too!!"

Me:
"Lucy, we have to be careful with our money and it's so
much cheaper to eat at home, OK?"

Lucy:
"Mom, LOOK! There's On The Border!
Let's go there!"

I give up.

No, we didn't go to On the Border.

But, ummm...we did go to McD's.

I'm weak, what can I say? The Dollar Menu is our friend.

Singing Grace Like Rain with your blog....I love it. (distracting to a gal like me...which is why I deleted my play list..I can't read and sing at the same time :) )
okay, focus....the hour I first believed...Hallelujah! Grace like rain...falls down on me! Hallelujah.... wait...think think...what was I gonna say? ;)
Oh, just that I've had that conversatin with Josiah..about the value of a dollar...he thinks they are all going to help us adopt Elaina :) He is getting pretty irritated these days that we haven't seemed to save up enough Elaina dollars after all the times I have said no to eating out!
oh well!

Please tell me when you have figured out how to consistently ward off (or distract or reason with) the one-track-mind of a smart and determined preschool girl!! I could really use that advice ....!!

All the best,

Goodness knows I'd have a hard time saying no to that cute little face too! :)
Besides McD's eggs ARE yummy! LOL!

She is a smart cookie. I would not have been able to say no either.

We have the same problem here with Katie. She aways asks her dad for money (I always tel her I don't have any. Which is usually true. LOL) The other day she wanted me to buy her a new bathing suit at Target. I told her no because she already has about 15 bathing suits (sad but true) and she said: "well...if you get me that bathing suit now, when I get home I will ask daddy for 100 bucks and I will give it to you." It was so funny! I did not get the suit. I did get her popcorn and a slushie though. I am weak too! It must be the big brown eyes they both have:)

HAHA
I've never heard of On the Border? Hmmm, I wonder if we have any of those around here.

Our Anna is the same way- doesn't eat her bkf and as soon as she leaves the table wants her snack. I have granola bars / bkf bars in my purse for moments

LOL.

Priceless.

I owed, when I was a child, should I ever have children, I would take them to McDs at least 2x a week. As a child we went about 3 or 4 times a year.

My kids now go about 3 or 4 times a year. lol. Unless there is that desperate time..which doesn't happen too often.

Lucy is a gem. :) And so is her momma.

Hahahahahahaha....that is the sweetest thing I've read all day! Thanks for the chuckle, friend. Could she be any more adorable?

Have a very blessed weekend.

She is pretty darn cute, I must admit! Perhaps, I need to soften a little when my kiddos do that. Right now I have them brainwashed as Bryson asks/states me each time we go by a fast food restaurant, "That's junk, right mom?" He is probably so hoping I say Yes, but let's live it up!" Yes, maybe I need soften a little or NOT! :-)
