It's simply unbelievable....
that it's already been a year.
To look at all the pictures of Lucy on that day is heartbreaking to me.
While we were filled with excitement,
she was filled with tremendous fear.
It still hurts my heart to look at her sad face on that day....
seeing one of my children with such sadness and confusion is
hard to take in.

She entered the room and my heart filled with joy.
This seems so cruel.
We were asked to take Lucy down to the lobby
of the building we were in, in hopes of
calming her down.
It worked.

For the next few days she would go to the window
and yell "Mama!" (her foster mom...the only
mom and family she had ever known).
Her voice was so desperate and it still
makes me cry to think about it.

I'm so very thankful for the way God heals a broken heart and turns
mourning into dancing.
Our Lucy Joy today.....happy as can be!!!

A beautiful way to begin my day. God is so good!
I remember that day, too, thinking about how sad she looks and how upset you looked as well. But she's come a long way, baby.
Lori, the photo of so sad Mommie and so sad Lucy, had me crying this morning :-( It brought back so many memories of the first day with our Ch-na blessing. Now, headed back to bring home another sweetie, that day that we anticipate so anxiously will no doubt be traumatic once again. Such extremes of emotions is exhausting, but so worth it! Blessings to you all.
yippee for one year! hope you have something fun planned to celebrate the day!
Yay, for one year. I keep thinking they should have a better way for the "hand off". Our babies were 9 months and they practically threw Faith to us, of course it scared the wits out of her!
Lori,
I cried when I read your post today. It is so overwhelming, that Gotcha Day! Such a mixture of feelings for us and total sadness for our little ones!
I can still remember Philip's heartbreaking cry when he left Philip Hayden. He finally settled down in the van, but looking back at his pictures, it wasn't until a couple of months home that he began to show real joy on his face!
Thanks for the post. It's a good reminder of what our blessings go through to become our blessings.

Woo Hoo for 1 year!!! I'm sure you have something extra special planned for this very special day!!! Gotcha Day is one of THE most emotional days I. HAVE. EVER. HAD!!! And one I will ALWAYS cherish and remember!!!
Oh my goodness, that is SO how it was with Brady! Even right down to the same sucker in the mouth. Its just heartbreaking isn't it! And so much joy in seeing how they have grown and changed and become truly part of the family. Enjoy your one year anniversary!!
It is so heartbreaking to see all the fear and sadness these precious children are feeling. Thank goodness the it is only for a short while. The picture of you holding her says it all and the pic of Kelly and Lucy looking out the window is precious.
Congratulations on your one year anniversary of Gotcha Day!
I picture of her crying and looking out the window brings back such raw emotions of what we were doing just six months ago. And now I look at how happy our sweet children are in our loving homes and it makes me want to start the process all of again today!!!
Lucy was adorable the day you got her! What a cutie! You can tell that she was well taken care of, so lucky for you!
Thank you for sharing... our beautiful Abigayl lived in a foster family as well. YOur pictures brought back so many memories! So many nights of crying for a mama that wasn't me. Yet as you said, God heals the broken hearted, I am so thankful for that foster mama who loved on my girl those 15 months before we brought her home. Now 3+ years later, Abigayl prays for the mama who loved her that she can know Jesus someday!
Blessings,
Gayly
Poor sweet baby girl! I am so happy she is
doing so well now!
